When I was taking a walk to Bongwonsa Temple, I came to a realization that people probably seek out religions to understand the mysteries of life. Although the science we have today is very highly advanced, there still are many questions that cannot be answered through science, such as, where we go after death. There are many theories behind this question but none of them can be proven to be true through science. Instead of seeking for a scientific answer, it seems to me that people turn to religion which answers questions like the one above in a much simpler level, although the answer may be different depending on the religion one practices. I feel like people study religions to understand the meaning of life or to simply seek for answers to the questions they have. For example, Buddhism believes that people are reincarnated after death until they reach nirvana. This idea answers the question of what happens to a person after their death. This provides the reason for people to live a good life so they can be reincarnated into a good status.
