Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born
This song describes the silent night in which Jesus Christ was born. It says that he was the Savior that came from the heaven to save the people. "Shepherds quake at sight" emphasizes how the birth of Jesus was a big deal and a miracle. His birth was a glory from heaven. In the movie the Nativity and Philippians 2:1-7, Jesus is described as the Savior and the Son of God just like in the song, Silent Night.
Mary played a vital role in the birth of Jesus. She gave birth to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as a virgin. Joseph took care of Mary when she was giving birth, and protected her on the way to Bethlehem. Shepherds symbolized one of the most important reasons of Jesus's birth; He is here for all the people. During this time period, shepherds were considered to be apart of the lower class. The fact that they were one of the firsts to see Jesus, it shows how he was there for all people, especially the poor. The three wise men, also known as the Persian astrologers played a great part of the story because they presented Jesus with 3 gifts. They included gold, frakincense and myrrh.
Jesus is described as the Son of God who came to save all people from their sins. God sent a self-sacrificing baby to earth that will eventually die for the people's sins. I believe that God chose to send Jesus in a human form to make the people feel more related and to spread Christianity through a human body which might seem more familiar to the people during this time.
